About Me

Hello and Welcome!

I am Kristina, the creator and decorator behind Homemade Hydrangea. I am mom to two spunky, girly girls and have been married to my husband for 12 years.

The idea behind Homemade Hydrangea is rooted in a question I was asked in a job interview early in my career.

“If money was not an object, what career would you choose?”

Without hesitation and without thinking, “Interior Designer” was my response.

The content and décor ideas you’ll find here are my creative outlet—and my little escape from the everyday chaos of life as a newly declared stay-at-home mom. Not too long ago, I traded in my structured, technical world as a medical laboratory scientist—where I specialized in laboratory integrations—for a life filled with creativity, color, and home projects.

It might sound like a big leap from lab work to home décor, but honestly, the two have more in common than you’d think! Both require attention to detail, a love for process, and the ability to see the bigger picture. The same skills that once helped me analyze data now help me create spaces that feel warm, intentional, and full of life.

Long before I ever put on a lab coat, my first job was a floral associate at a home décor store in my hometown. That’s where I learned how to design arrangements, make bows, and discovered my love for creating beauty from simple things—a spark that’s continued to grow ever since.

When I’m not decorating or window shopping for my next seasonal refresh, you can usually find me cycling, running, spending time with my family, or outside chasing my two energizer bunnies (aka my crazy girls).

I hope you’ll find inspiration here—whether it’s everyday decorating tips, seasonal ideas, or step-by-step DIY projects—to help you bring more beauty and joy into your home.
